Funeral for Beatrice Key Cooper, 88, of Somerville will be Thursday (today), July 10, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville with Dr. Charles Owens officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper died Monday, July 7, 2008. She was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Morgan County to George Travis Key and Margie Elizabeth Lemmond Key. A graduate of Cotaco High School, she retired from P.R. Mallory in Huntsville in 1979. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to church, cooking for her grandchildren and being outdoors working in her garden and talking care of her flowers.
She was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dunbar “Jack” Briscoe Cooper, her parents and her brother, Herbert Key.
She is survived by a son, John Barry Cooper and wife Marilyn of Somerville; a brother, Harold Key of Decatur; two grandchildren, Tara Kay Cooper of Huntsville and John Loyd Cooper of Hartselle; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be John Loyd Cooper, Steve Cooper, Jonathan Scott, Hoyt Henry, Conrad Sharp and Leonard Brown.
