Police stand off lasts two hours

Man taken to hospital, no charges filed yet

A man with a loaded handgun in a residential neighborhood held Hartselle police and other law enforcement officers at bay for two hours Friday night before he laid down his weapon and volunteered to be taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
Barley said police were alerted to a domestic dispute on Cindy Street at approximately 8:50 p.m. and reponded immediately.
He said law enforcement officers on the scene included Hartselle ‘s SRT unit and Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies.
