A memorial service for Leldon Wayne Drinkard Sr., 64, of Falkville will be Thursday (today), July 31, at 11 a.m. at Lawrence Cove Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Smith officiating.
Peck Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mr. Drinkard died Friday, July 25, 2008, at his residence. He was born August 15, 1943, in Morgan County. He was a U.S. Army (Green Beret) veteran, worked at General Motors in Michigan for 13 years and was an excellent guitar player and singer. He loved his guitar, cowboy boots and hat and enjoyed entertaining an audience. During his younger years, he was a front man in several bands. He loved his mountain home and land and took pride in his beautiful garden. He loved his family and we will miss him always.
He is survived by a special friend and family, Ann Marie Legg; three sons, Leldon Wayne Drinkard Jr. and wife Erica, Richard Wayne “J.I.” Drinkard and wife Katie and Ricky Malin; four daughters, Kimberly Sue Watkins and husband Richard, Julie Ann Drinkard and husband Mike of Belvedere, Ill., Heather Faye Harroun and Helena Jo Malin; three brothers, Robert Gene Drinkard and wife Hazel, Houston Drinkard and Elliot “Pete” Drinkard; three sisters, Hilda Sue Shrum and husband Gary, Jeri Jarrett and husband Dexter and Venia Mae Bohnet; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, family and friends; and his beloved dog, “B.J.”
