The career technical program in agriscience education at Danville High School has been recognized as the best in the state.
Agriscience instructor Sandy Fields accepted an engraved plaque at the summer conference of the Career Technical Education Association in Birmingham. He was also an invited guest at a meeting of the Alabama Department of Education, where further recognition was received.
Competition for the annual award is based on a wide range of criteria including the number of students enrolled in agriscience education, individual achievements in district and state FFA competitions, the number of students who go on to earn degrees in ag-related fields and community participation.
Fields said the state award would be hung in a prominent place in his classroom.
