Priceville, Eva mayors face opposition

Voters in the municipalities of Falkville, Priceville, Eva, Somerville and Trinity will go to the polls Aug. 26 to decide two races for mayor and 16 contests for city council seats. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In races for mayor, incumbent Melvin Duran is opposed by Pat Little in Priceville and Chris Ryan is seeking to unseat incumbent Gary Livingston in Eva. Mayors JimmieWalker of Falkville, Ray Long of Somerville and Vaughn Goodwin of Trinity are unopposed.
Council positions up for grabs and their candidates are listed as follows:
Somerville: Place 1—incumbent Opal Mooneyham vs. Sheena Dugger; Place 2—incumbent Bobbie Jackson vs., Tammie Walker Frye; Place incumbent Jackie Teague vs. Regina Bailey. Incumbents Darren Tucker, Place 3 and Rodger McClure, Place 4 are unopposed.
Trinity: Place 1—Gordon Burden vs. James Whitt. Incumbents Chris Lemley, Place 2 Richie Sparkman , Place 3, Bruce Sparkman, Place 4 and Richard Fortson, Place 5 are unopposed.
