Applications sought for holiday help

Applications for Christmas assistance through the Salvation Army will be accepted Oct. 6-10 from 9 a.m.-noon at 114 14th Street NW, in Decatur.
The Salvation Army is assisting low-income families with food for Christmas dinner and toys for children ages 12 and younger. Applications are accepted from couples, single head of households and senior citizens.
Applications must be made in person by the head of the household or spouse. Only one application per dwelling will be accepted.
All applicants must show personal identification (Social Security number, driver’s license, etc.) for each household member. Verification of birthdates will be required for all children ages 12 and younger. Original birth certificates must be provided, no copies will be accepted.
Proof of all bills must be provided. If you own property or land, bring in proof of property taxes. Verification of all income in the household, such as a check stub from a job or public assistance, must be provided.
Applicants must also provide a telephone number.
No applications are accepted over the phone and children aren’t allowed in the gym.
