Funeral for James L. McCarty, 63, of Falkville was Friday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milan Dekich officiating.
Burial was in Key Cemetery.
Mr. McCarty died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at his residence. He was born Feb. 8, 1945, in Kentucky to Clayton Thomas McCarty and Lucille Maxine Alfrey McCarty. He served in the U.S. Army where he served as a lineman and completed courses in engineering and field communications. He earned a Good Conduct Medal and the Sharpshooter’s Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy C. McCarty of Falkville; two sons, Clayton J. McCarty and James Lucas McCarty, both of Falkville; three daughters, Yovonna Nevins of Indianapolis, Ind., and Nancy Byers and Mary Lynn McCarty, both of Falkville; a brother, Howard L. McCarty of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Patricia Bristow of Indianapolis, Ind. and Francis Gardner of Daleville; five grandchildren, Robert J. McCarty, James Sammons, Dustin Spellman, Chauntee Spellman and Helen McCarty; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob McCarty, Kelsey McCarty, Christiana Spellman and Jade McCarty.
Pallbearers were Robert J. McCarty, James E. Sammons, Larry S. Byers, Dillard F. Sammons, Chuck Green and Raymond Bristow.
