Loss drops Brewer to 0-3

Brewer’s Patriots came up empty handed for the third week in a row as they dropped a 0-24 decision to Hayden’s Wildcats on the road Friday night.
The loss left the Patriots with an 0-3 record on the season.
The Wildcats grabbed a 6-0 lead in a scoreless game midway in the second period on a drive that resulted in a touchdown run. The extra point was missed.
The Patriots compiled 170 yards of total offense in the first half but had trouble moving the football once they reached the red zone (20-yard line).
Two turnovers also hurt their cause as well as a failed 23-yard field goal by Vinny Muggeo.
The Wildcats scored three touchdowns in the final quarter thanks in large part to two more Brewer turnovers. Brian Jones picked off a Brewer pass and returned it 47 yards for a score early in the period.
On the first play from scrimmage after receiving the ensuring kickoff, the Patriots fumbled the ball and Hayden converted it into a 20-yard touchdown drive. And, with 22 second left, Isaac Veitch scored on a 34-yard run to make the score 24-0.
The Patriots will take on Erwin High School at home in another region game Friday at 7 p.m.
