Funeral for Cecil Rooks, 80, of Danville was Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Redding officiating.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Rooks died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Lawrence County to George Rooks and Emma Higgins Rooks. He was retired from Field’s Manufacturing Co. in Chicago. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Rooks; two daughters, Debra Hill and Shirley Lentz; a granddaughter, Katlyn Hill; and 12 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Freddie Rooks of Danville; two sons, Rickie Rooks of Danville and Gerald Rooks and wife Regina of Hartselle; six daughters, Kathy Stewart and husband Karl of Vinemont, JoAnn Kelsoe and husband Dewayne, Christi Hill and husband Chris and Shanae Rooks, all of Danville, Rita Freeman and husband Shannon of Moulton and Rhonda Wilson of Hartselle; a brother, Crawford Rooks and wife Betty of Fultondale; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
