Funeral for Kenneth Wayne “Red Bone” Slaten, 38, of Decatur will be Thursday (today), Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Garrison officiating.
Burial will be in Cheatham Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Mr. Slaten died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in Danville. He was born July 18, 1970, in Illinois to Franklin Eugene Slaten Sr. and Jean Harris Slaten.
He worked in construction on the river with various welding firms and was a member of Union Hall Local 377, Plumbers and Steamfitters, in Huntsville. He enjoyed spending time with his children, hunting and playing music. Her attended Danville High School. and was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by a daughter, Kaitlin Slaten and her mother Charla of Austin, Tex.; two sons, Trever and Gunner Slaten and their mother Stephanie of Decatur; his mother, Jean Slaten of Decatur; a brother, Frankie Slaten Jr. of Decatur; and two sisters, Shelia Slaten of Tucson, Ariz. and Rhonda Brown of Falkville.
Pallbearers were Clint Patterson, Dakota Slaten, Mickey Brown, David Behan, Donovan Gilliland and Sidney Beard.
A memorial fund has been set up in Kenneth Wayne Slaten’s name at Bank Independent in Hartselle to assist with his medical expenses and surviving children.
