Funeral for Jewell Holaway, 92, of Hartselle was Monday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Brooks and Bro. Clyde Ledlow officiating.
Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Holaway died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Morgan County to Lonzo and Myrtle Summerford. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
She touched the lives of many with her love and kindness and was loved and admired by everyone. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.O. Holaway; a daughter, Joyce Lay; and two sons-in-law, David Lay and Tommy Rhoads.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Teague and husband Billy of Hartselle and Pat Rhoads of Houston, Tex.; a sister-in-law, Mattie Lou Summerford; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family members and friends.
