Obama isn’t the right choice
Editor:
Has anyone stopped to think and recognize the intelligence of McCain vs Obama? Each has had their chance to pick their VP running mate; someone they would hope to go to Washington as their advisor and potential stand-in President. McCain picked (Sarah) Palin, a real person who is an honest, knowledgeable, outgoing, down-to-earth commoner with intelligence and personality – and she is pretty, too! But who, what did Obama choose? (Joseph) Biden, a nothing has-been who lies and stumbles so well because he has so effectively practiced it for many, many years as a US Senator, particularly during the past eight Bush Years. Obama’s first Presidential (elect) decision and this is what he does – he blew it!! And you trust Obama to make rationale, intelligent decisions as President of the United States?

Hairdresser hangs up her shears
Editor:
The last 10 years I have had the privilege of working in the wonderful town of Hartselle in a barber shop on Main St. called Van’s. I have hung up my clippers and my husband and I are off on the next adventure in our lives starting in LaPlace, La. I would like to thank all my loyal customers for their business this past decade, you will never realize how much I appreciate you all. Bob White thanks for retiring so I could have your chair! Van, thanks for taking a chance on me, you were the best boss in the world! Annette and LeighAnn, I will miss y’all. Please continue to visit this fine barber shop on Main St. Van is renovating and when I come back to visit I can’t wait to see the transformation. Thanks again for a wonderful 10 years Hartselle!!

Voters urge petition support
Editor:
Speaking for the Committee to Elect The Hartselle School Board, we ask each of the citizens of Hartselle, 18 and over, to sign a petition to this effect to present to the Hartselle City Council. These petitions are generally all over the city. The only business approached who would not allow a petition to be placed in their facility was The Pig Stand. Every one else approached was very helpful in this matter. Please go to one of the following businesses today and sign this petition. If you do not see the petition then ask for it because it is there. A vast majority of our citizens want an elected school board but many on the council and the mayor do not want to give up the power to appoint. Nationwide,96 percent of the school boards are elected along with Morgan County and Decatur. These two are also elected by districts. Please sign a petition today at: Miller Motors, Main St., Huddle House, Hwy 36 and I-65, Cowboy’s, Hwy 36, BP Station, The Store, I-65, Hwy 36, Shell Mini Mart, same as above, Hartselle Exxon Mini Mart, Hwy 36, Hwy 31, Shell Mini Mart, same as above, Mister Henry’s, Nanceford Rd., Raceway-Waddell’s Store, Hwy 31, Tankersley’s (on table with magazines) Hwy 36 and 31, Abercrombie Chevrolet (table in showroom), Spirit Station, Main St., Hartselle Liberty Mart, Hwy 31, Weaver’s Texaco, Hwy 31 across from Lowe’s. There may also be other places but these are known places.
Please take a few minutes and sign a petition today. We look for an overwhelming response. Get involved in your city government to help make it better.
