A memorial service for Shirley Jane Nelson, 71, of Hartselle will be Saturday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Bay City, Tex. with Mike Zimmerman officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Peck Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
Mrs. Nelson died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at Summerford Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Texas to William E. Matlock and Mabel McGinley Matlock. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle and former member of First Baptist Church in Bay City, Tex. She graduated from Olden High School in Olden, Tex. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Carroll Lee Nelson Jr.; a son Carroll Lee Nelson, Jr.; and a brother, Thomas Matlock.
She is survived by a son, Timothy Scott Nelson and wife Jeni of Hartselle; a daughter-in-law, Lizabeth Nelson of Frisco, Tex.; two sisters, Peggy Langston of North Richland Hills, Tex. and Geneva Schuhsler of Houston, Tex.; a sister-in-law, Nicky Jones of Van Vleck, Tex.; and five grandchildren, Carroll Nelson III, Colin Nelson, Mallory Nelson, Taylor Scott Nelson and Joseph Nelson.
