Funeral for Virginia Bessie Baker Shaneyfelt, 91, of Hartselle will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ridout-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Evans officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Shaneyfelt died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Luel Jr. and Nell Shaneyfelt, with whom she resided. She was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Morgan County to Max and Texie Baker.
She was the widow of Luel B. Shaneyfelt Sr., a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and was a former employee of Goodyear Mill, Murphy’s and Martin’s Department Store. Her husband of 67 years, her parents, a granddaughter, Pamela Shaneyfelt, and a sister, Iva Nell Buford, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Luel Shaneyfelt Jr. and wife Nell of Hartselle; two daughters, Jean Atencio and husband Ray of Florence and Barbara McGregor and husband Bill of Athens; two sisters, Josephine Thompson and husband W.J. and Sue Baker Roan of Hartselle; four grandsons, Jose R. Atencio III and wife Sheila and Chris Atencio and wife Susan, both of Florence, Shane McGregor and wife Karen of Hatton and Anthony Shaneyfelt and wife Stephanie of Coweta, Okla.; a granddaughter, Rolanda Foley and husband Mike of Brownburg, Ind.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Eric Ashley, Jason and Stephanie Atencio of Florence, Fallon and Tara Foley of Brownburg, Ind., Jacalyn and Lillian McGregor of Hatton and Ginny, Anna Grace and Zed Shaneyfelt of Coweta, Okla.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
