Funeral for Chester Screll Thompson, 81, of Falkville was Monday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike Thomas officiating.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at his residence. He was born Mar. 17, 1927, in Cullman County to John D. Thompson and Linnie A. Dye Thompson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Joan Thompson and a sister, Audie Calhoun.
He is survived by a son, Jack Thompson of Sornonauk, Ill.; a daughter, Sandra Thompson Allen of Falkville; a brother, Hershel Thompson of Ochechobee, Fla.; four sisters, Dora Bailey of Lamont, Fla., Dean Young of Hollywood, Fla., Diane Thompson and Annilou Thompson Meigs, both of Ochechobee, Fla. ; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tony Maday, Jason Allen, Adam Maday and Rick Allen.
Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Maday and Brad Thompson.
