Falkville girl takes own life at school

Falkville High School’s faculty and students remained in a state of shock and this week after Emily Robbins, 16, left a class and hanged herself in a restroom stall at the school last week.
A school staff member found the junior at about 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on her and she was transported to Hartselle Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Wood said classes as usual were suspended Friday and Monday and parents were able to check out their children.
She said professional counselors were in the school both days to counsel with students both as a group and one-on-one upon request. They came from other county schools, the Morgan County Mental Health Association, Hospice and local churches.
Emily enrolled at Falkville High as an eighth grader after her family moved to Falkville in 2005. She was a member of the marching band and the girl’s track team.
Funeral services for Emily were held at Fairview Church of God on Monday. She leaves behind parents and step-parents, a sister, three brothers, three grandparents and two great-grandparents.
