James Ralph Mason Sr.

Funeral for James Ralph Mason Sr., 80, of Decatur was Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Cheston Carr and J.T. Copeland officiating.
Burial was in New Center Cemetery.
Mr. Mason died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at his residence. He was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Morgan County to James Ford Mason and Nina Crow Mason. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, superintendent and trustee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Laura Copeland Mason.
He is survived by two sons, James Ralph “Jim” Mason Jr. and wife Petra of Decatur and Kenneth David “Ken” Mason and wife Mary Annette of Hartselle; two sisters, Edna Clark of Trinity and Betty McGhee of Decatur; and two grandchildren, Cory Mason and Kayla Mason, both of Hartselle.
Pallbearers were Allen Newman, Steve Legg, Josh Roper, Adam Schrimsher, Robert Vickery and Dan Copeland.
