Funeral for Lorene Poole Wilbanks, 89, of Hartselle was Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Wilbanks, Rev. Brian Wilbanks and Sister Rachel Westmoreland officiating.
Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilbanks died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur. She was born May 4, 1919, in Lawrence County to Thomas Jefferson Poole and Annie Garnett Poole. She was the oldest member of Faith Chapel Praise Center in Hartselle. She loved gardening and flowers and was a prayer warrior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin I. Wilbanks and a son, Kenneth Wilbanks.
She is survived by four sons, James Hoyt Wilbanks and wife Helen of Falkville, Hugh Gorden Wilbanks and wife Frances of Hartselle; Gary Wayne Wilbanks and wife Sharyn of Decatur and Billy Ewel Wilbanks and wife Margaret of Rochester Hills, Mich.; two daughters, Linda Jewel Sheppard and husband Calvin of Hartselle and Lisa Lynn Patterson and husband Buddy of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Mary Wilbanks of Hartselle; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews were pallbearers and granddaughters and nieces were flower girls.
