Record numbers turn out to vote
By Staff
Secretary of State Beth Chapman said Nov. 4 Alabama General Election exceeded the largest number of votes cast in the state by 200,000 voters.
The voter turnout was 11 percent larger than the turnout for the 2004 General election, and was 73 percent of the record 3,010,638 registered voters. Chapman gives credit to the state’s voter registrars, Probate Judges, elections officials, and her staff for helping the 2,082,350 voters in the state who turned out to vote.
