Cattle thieves hit again

A theft of 15 cows from a pasture in the Valhermoso Springs community is still under investigation, according to Morgan County Chief Deputy Mike Corley.
Corley said 15 black Brangus cows from a herd of 100 were reported missing by their owner on Nov. 10. They were believed to have been stolen sometime between Oct. 18 and Nov. 7. Their estimated value is $15,000.
The cattle owner told sheriff’s investigators he saw strange tire tracks in his pasture and assumed that someone opened a fence gate, backed a truck or trailer into the pasture and used feed as a lure to load the cows, Corley said.
Another incident of cattle rustling was committed in Morgan County last month and two persons have been arrested and changed in connection with the incident.
Carl Michael Rauch, 21, of 187 Cullman County1220, Vinemont was arrested on Nov, 3 and David Allen Henderson, 24, of 355 S.E. Maddox Road, Falkville, was arrested on Oct. 30 and charged with allegedly stealing six cows from a pasture in the Oden Ridge community.
Corley said that crime is still under investigation because of its possible link to similar crimes committed recently in Cullman County.
