Funeral for Dathern Smith, 80, of Hartselle was Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Lebanon Church of God at Speake with Bro. Jim Nelson, Bro. James Nicholson and Bro. Densil Borden officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Johnson Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Lawrence County to William Smith and Lucy Smith. He was a lifelong member and senior deacon of Lebanon Church of God and adult Sunday school teacher. He loved his wife of 63 years very much and his family was an important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bobby Neal Smith
He is survived by his wife, Annie Rodgers Smith of Hartselle; two daughters, Diane Welborn and husband Ronnie and Cindy Weatherby and husband Waylon, all of Hartselle; a daughter-in-law, Vonda Sue Smith of Mount Hope; four sisters, Lois Childers, Madith Wright, Ethel Brown and Nellavine Glover, all of Danville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild and another great-great-grandchild on the way.
Pallbearers were Michael Smith, Chris Weatherby, Dathern Wade Weatherby, Casey Welborn and Ronnie Kelsoe.
