Jeffery Hyche isn’t wasting anytime getting acclimated to Hartselle and making himself known as the newly appointed principal at Hartselle High School. He will assume the position on Jan. 6, 2009.
Hyche purchased a house in Hartselle on Saturday and spent Monday and Tuesday at Hartselle High School meeting and getting acquainted with the staff, faculty and students.
He spent most the day on Monday meeting and chatting with teachers at a reception in the school library. On Tuesday, he visited with department heads and spent about 10 minutes in each classroom talking with students.
Hyche was appointed by the school board Nov. 3 to replace veteran Principal Jerry Reeves who resigned earlier to accept a staff position in the central office.
Hyche has served as principal of Class 6A Hillcrest High School for 10 years and was a teacher and assistant principal there for eight years. He holds bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Alabama and also earned a Class A certificate in Education there. He has an Education Specialist in Education from Montevallo University and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama Law School.
