County workers granted $150 holiday pay boost

Morgan County’s employees will be receiving an early Christmas gift this year,
A one-time salary adjustment totaling $60,000 for Morgan County‘s employees was approved unanimously by Morgan County Commission last week. This means approximately 400 full-time county workers will receive a $150 check when they come together for a Christmas breakfast Dec. 3.
The commission also authorized Chairman John Glasscock to enter into an agreement with the state Department of Trans-portation to make safety improvements on Danville and Old Moulton Roads.
The proposed project involves striping, reflectors and the repair of existing guardrails and the installation of others on both roads. The estimated cost is $92,400, with 90 percent of the cost paid by the state and 10 percent by the county.
County Engineer Greg Bodley said bid opening on the project is scheduled for Dec. 5. If the low bid is acceptable, work will probably commence next spring.
