Man arrested for antique thefts

A Hartselle man has been charged in connection to items stolen from Parker Road earlier this year.
Amos Weldon Hester of Sparkman Street, was charged with burglary after several thousand dollars of stolen property were recovered. The items are believed to have been taken from an uninhabited but secure residence on Parker Road earlier this year. Sheriff’s officials said the owners were using the residence for storage of antique furniture. Other items from the grounds and two outbuildings were also missing.
Several pieces of the stolen furniture were later recovered from various antique dealers in Hartselle. Sheriff’s officials said the merchants were totally cooperative with investigators and had no knowledge of the origins of the property they purchased.
Hester is being held on $7,500 bond.
