Auto stop leads to meth arrest

A Decatur traffic stop led to the arrest of a Falkville man on drug charges.
Joel David Mercer, 38, of 23317 Highway 31 S, is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and following another vehicle too closely.
Mercer was stopped as he traveled on Beltline Road at Spring Ave. Police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Mercer is being held on $3,500 bond.
