Funeral for James Curtis Parker, 82, of Hartselle was Friday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Callahan officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Parker died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his residence. He was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Lawrence County to Louis Thomas Parker and Sarah Margaret Jeffreys Parker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Mutual Savings Life Insurance Co. as a maintenance supervisor. A member of Oak Ridge Methodist Church, he had a love for horses, animals, music and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Inez Parker of Hartselle; three sons, Donald Parker of Somerville, Allen Vest and wife Felicia of Hartselle and Bobby Vest of Decatur; two daughters, Freida Layton and husband Don of Hartselle and Linda Herndon of Decatur; two bothers, Willard Parker and wife Vernelle and Gene Parker and wife Shelby, both of Town Creek; a sister, Elouise Martin of Courtland; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
Pallbearers were Jerry Moon, Eddie Barnett, Jamie Rutherford, Greg Nicholson, James Nicholson and Benny Joe Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
