Chappell’s Family Karate &Jujitsu in Hartselle was converted into a temporary Santa’s workshop last week as instructors, students and parents packed Christmas dinners in boxes and sent them out to 100 needy families in Morgan County.
The family dinner consisted of a frozen turkey with roasting pan, dressing. gravy, rolls, two vegetable sides, a pie and a soft drink. A Christmas greeting card was attached to each box of food.
Chappell’s students participated in a Christmas Basket Brigade Kick-A-Thon on Dec. 13 to raise the money needed to purchase the food. They solicited donations from local businesses, family members, friends and neighbors.
The food was delivered in person by students and parents after it was packaged and paced in individual boxes at the karate center.
