Funeral for Josephine “Jo” Berry, 81, of Somerville was Friday, Dec. 26, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Curtis Stanford, Randy Berry and Jimmy Flynn and Bro. Cecil Berry officiating,
Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Berry died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Morgan County to John Wardell Dobbs and Mary Azalee Matthews “Momma Dobbs” Ellis. She was a retired bus driver for the Morgan County School System and a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E.P. Berry. She was a faithful supporter of her husband during the years of his ministry.
She is survived by two sons, John Berry and wife Carolyn of Brooksville and Cecil Berry and wife Judy of Somerville; three daughters, Janice Luker and husband Tommy of Somerville, Patty Montgomey and husband Mike of Lacey’s Spring and Amy Campbell and husband Kenneth of Athens; six grandchildren. Chan Barber, Randy Berry, Dione Hatfield, Rodney Berry, Rita Collier, and Grant Luker; and nine great-grandchildren, Jameson Barber, Chandler Barber, Cooper Berry, Carson Hatfield, Bryler Hatfield, Tyler Berry, Nathan Collier, Erin Collier and Austin Glass.
Pallbearers were Rodney Berry, Tyler Berry, Grant Luker, Mark Hatfield, Donnie Barber, Jameson Barber and Mark Collier.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International, Alabama Baptist Children’s Home or the Tennessee Valley Outreach.
