Funeral for Rev. David H. Smith, 74, of Eva was Monday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Vernon Willis and Paul Monk officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery.
Rev. Smith died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at UAB Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1934, in Cullman County to Dewey Samson Smith and Myrtis Miller Smith. He was retired from Fruehauf in Decatur. Rev. Smith, or Paw Paw to most, was a man of many hats. He was a husband, preacher, father, grandfather great-grandfather and friends to many. He was a very special person and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete Smith, Leon Smith and Norman Smith; and four sisters, Agnes Latham, Evalena Kelly, Eloise Linton and Christine Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Maddux Smith of Eva; a son, David Smith and wife Rhonda; three daughters, Bonnie Alldredge and husband Jackie, Sherry Leeth and husband Jimmie and Brenda Miller and husband Marc; a sister, Janelle Teichmiller; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joseph Brown, Greg Hagelburg, Terry Wilson, Eric Drinkard, Matthew McIntosh and Austin Monk.
