Funeral for Horace Edward Hardy, 84, of Hartselle was Friday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor J.T. Copeland and Jimmy Flynn officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery
Mr. Hardy died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born March 14, 1924, in Tennessee to Hubert Hugh Hardy and Bessie Evelyn Hardy. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired machine operator from Prestolite. He was a born-again Christian and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served in the bus ministry and was a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Marie Kilgore Hardy; a son, Gary Alan Hardy; two brothers, Gerald Hardy and Lloyd G Hardy; and three sisters, Christine Hardy, Dorothy Tucker and Betty Hunter.
He is survived by three sons, Charles Edward Hardy and wife Susie and Kenneth Eugene Hardy, both of Huntsville and Terry Wayne Hardy of Decatur; two daughters, Linda Diane Tate and husband Jerry of Arab and Marie Antoinette Austin and husband Donald; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Hardy, Daniel Hardy, Dion White, Cliff Parker, Heather Harrison and Jerry Tate.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Lovell, Gus Slater and Charlie Osborne.
