Commission finances new building projects

Morgan County commissioners took action at a regular meeting on Tuesday to fund the construction of a new animal shelter and a new Environmental Services facility. The buildings will be located side by side on a 10-acre site in the north sector of the Hartselle-Morgan County Industrial Park.
Chairman John Glasscock was authorized to execute an agreement between the commission and E-Tech Construction for $2.064 million for the construction of both buildings. Funding is budgeted and is payable out of Animal Control and Environmental Services funds.
In a separate but related matter, a payment of $88,566 was approved for Underwood Associates for architectural services linked to the construction projects.
In addition, a payment of $10,973 was approved for OMI, Inc. for subsurface exploration and sinkhole risk analysis on the construction site.
