Mandel, Powell exchange vows
Dorothy Elisabeth Mandel of Huntsville and Stephen Charles Powell of Hartselle were wed Dec. 20, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville.
The bride is the daughter of Laura Mallett and Keith Mandel of Huntsville. The groom is the son of Craig and Valerie Powell.
The Rev. Steven M. Mosher officiated the ceremony.
The church was decorated with torches lining the pews accented with seasonal greenery.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a ivory silk taffeta dress by Jasmine Couture that featured a sweetheart neckline, gathered bodice, mermaid silhouette, and chapel train with tiers of Alencon lace. A cap sleeve shrug of Alencon lace and Swarovski crystals complimented the dress.
The fingertip length veil featured the bride’s maiden monogram and a blusher.
The bridal bouquet was in shades of antique whites and greens in hydrangeas, tulips, roses, Queen Anne’s lace, and green hypericum berries.
Lynsey Michelle Welch of Mobile was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mallory Nicole Clayton of New York; Tracy Ann Elleard of Nashville, Tenn; Amanda Lynde Elmore of Mobile; Sydney Lee Jones of Franklin, Tenn; Kathleen Cameron Glass of Macon, Ga; and Hayley Maria Haughton, Laura Claire Bagwell, Shelton Elizabeth Oakley, and Naomi Elizabeth Hallmark of Huntsville.
The bridesmaids wore Indigo Jim Hjelm satin A-line dresses with empire waistlines. The bridesmaid’s bouquets were smaller versions of the bridal bouquet in whites and creams.
Maggie Elizabeth Richardson of Tuscaloosa was flower girl.
Ringbearers were Gabriel Thomas Millican of Gulf Breeze, Fla. and Zane Patrick Powell of Tuscaloosa.
Best man was Jason Alexander Porter of Tuscaloosa. Groomsmen were Nicholas Andrew Powell of Hartselle; Benjamin Jacob Mandel and Keith Maxwell Mandel of Huntsville; Justin York Nims of Mobile; Benjamin Tate Hinkle of Lanett; Thomas Joshua Caldwell of Crawford; Davey Brent Richerson of St. Louis, Mo.; Matthew William Morris of Neel; and Zachary Travis Brock of Decatur.
Acolyte was Nicholas James Browne of Castiac, Ca.
Music at the reception was provided by Somebody’s Daddy Band of Birmingham.
The reception was immediately following the ceremony at the Historic Huntsville Depot Roundhouse.
The bride’s four-tier round cake was provided by Peggy Ann Bakery and featured ivory and white icing in alternating dotted and lattice patterns.
The groom’s two-tiered square cake was chocolate with peanut butter and chocolate icing and a chocolate ganache drizzle topped with green grapes.
Becky Hartley assisted with the reception. Hallie Ann Browne of Castaic, Ca. distributed the bubbles.
After a honeymoon to St. Maarten, the couple is residing in Birmingham.
