Hartselle sweeps Bearcats

Tres Austin scored four points in overtime to lead Hartselle to a 63-56 win over rival Cullman Monday night at the J.C. Pettey Center.
Austin opened the overtime period with a driving layup and Sam Fleischman hit three of four free throws in the final two minutes to key the win.
Manquez Jones scored 17 points to pace the Tigers and Fleischman finished with 16 points despite sitting out several minutes with a knee injury. Rodney Stansberry added 11 points, while Zach Orr finished with 10 points.
The game was the final home game for several seniors, including Marquez Jones, Manquez Jones, Darrell Dye, Stansberry, Orr, Josh Slaten, Russell Powell, statistician Kaleb Estes and manager Jeremy Thomason.
Fleischman finished seven-of-nine from the free throw line for Hartselle.
Cullman’s Andrew Christenberry led the Bearcats with 16 points. He hit all 10 of his free throw attempts.

Taylor White hit three 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 13 points as Hartselle beat Cullman 47-41.
Katie Young and Stacey Stewart scored nine points each for the Lady Tigers. Alex Holmes had seven points and seven rebounds.
Hartselle improved to 14-14 with the win.
Cullman’s Jennifer Cooper led the Lady Bearcats with 15 points.
Hartselle led 32-24 at the half, but scored just four points in the third quarter. The Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter.
Hollie Nix, Chelsea Billings and Meeda Stephenson were playing in their final home games. Nix scored the game’s first four points.
