Phlebotomy course offered
By Staff
The Wallace State-Hanceville Workforce Development office is offering Phlebotomy Technician training and certification in February. The 88-hour course is intended for those who have no experience and want to become employed as a Phlebotomy Technician in a clinical laboratory or public health department setting. The course includes 48 hours of classroom training and a 40-hour externship to provide a complete learning experience.
Phlebotomy Technicians, or phlebotomists, primarily focus on the collection and transportation of blood samples from patients. They work in a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, blood banks, outpatient clinics, physician offices, and laboratories.
Interested participants should be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-8:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 17 and ending April 2. Externships will be coordinated after class completion. The course fee is $1599.
