Priceville sweeps Danville

PRICEVILLE - Priceville head coach Catrina Mason expected a tough challenge from Danville Friday night.
But a 10-0 start was more than enough to send the Lady Bulldogs to a 62-43 victory over the Lady Hawks.
Priceville improved to 16-10 with the win heading into the area tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will host the Class 4A, Area 13 tournament this week.
Keila Hamlin scored 20 points, with 11 points coming in the second half, to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
Melissa Johnson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Presley Darling added 10 points and six rebounds.
Chanel McClendon added eight rebounds for Priceville.
Danville’s Kayloni Cross finished with 19 points to lead the Lady Hawks. She scored 15 points in the second half.
Ashley Nance added 11 points.
Priceville used a stifling defense to keep Danville in check. The Lady Bulldogs opened up a 28-7 lead in the first half, allowing Danville just three baskets in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Danville closed out the half with a 10-6 spurt that trimmed the lead to 34-17 on the night when the Lady Bulldogs were honoring their seniors - Keila Hamlin, Callie Cox and McClendon.
Priceville scored the first four points of the second half and led 49-26 when Hamlin hit a 3-pointer with one second left in the third quarter.
Hamlin had seven points in the final three minutes of the third quarter.
Danville never got any closer than 16 points down the stretch.
Priceville 61, Danville 53
Priceville used a 31-point run in the fourth quarter to hold off Danville.
The Bulldogs improved to 13-14 with the win.
Kody Smith paced Priceville with 13 points, while Kristian Barker and JaColby Reid scored 11 points each.
Smith, Reid, Nathan Hester, Barker, and Ben Holmes were playing in their final home games for Priceville.
Brock Boyd chipped in with eight rebounds.
Priceville opened leads as large as five points in the first half, but Danville battled back to tie the game at 33-33 with less than two minutes gone in the fourth quarter.
Danville’s Dillon Childers completed a three-point play after being fouled that gave the Hawks their first lead since the opening minutes of the first quarter.
Priceville responded with a 13-2 run that was sparked by two 3-pointers from Kalieb Gibson for a 47-38 advantage.
Priceville sealed the win by hitting six of 10 free throws in the final two minutes of the game.
Danville’s Dillon Childers scored 15 points to lead the Hawks. Dakota McClung and Russell Standridge finished with 13 and 11 points respectively.
