William O. ‘Bill’ Neal

A graveside service for William O. “Bill” Neal, 83, of Vinemont will be Thursday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m. at Hamby’s Cemetery near Eva with Pastor Jeff Allred officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
No public visitation is planned; however, the family will see friends at the residence following the service.
Mr. Neal died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at National Healthcare in Moulton. He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Morgan County to Robert Weston Neal and Roma C. Oakes Neal. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Eva, a Master Mason and a member of Arrites Oden Lodge #396 for over 50 years and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Barbara Holmes Neal of Vinemont; two sons, Robert William Neal and wife Ellen of Eva and Timothy D. Neal of Decatur; two daughters, Dale Shadix and husband Darrell and Shelia Edmondson and husband Roger, all of Eva; a brother, James N. Neel of Colorado; five sisters, Rachel Robinson and Doris Bass, both of Decatur, Reba Bennett and Linda Bentley, both of Eva and Jean Breeding of Mobile; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Shadix, Craig Shadix, Justin Edmondson, Evan Edmondson, Brett Neal and Max Neal.
River Shadix will be an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
