Funeral for Charles Smith, 86, of Hartselle was Friday, Feb. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at his residence. He was born April 10, 1922, in Talladega County to Ellis Howard Smith and Emma Houston Smith. He was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ for 40 years and a veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was an avid University of Alabama fan.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Smith of Hartselle; two sons, Richard Smith of Hartselle and David Smith of Munford; a daughter, Darlene Brakefield of Columbus, Ga.; two grandsons, James “Brad” Smith and wife Miranda and Charles David Smith and wife Lisa; a granddaughter, April Smith; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of Hartselle Church of Christ.
