Funeral for John Steve Shelton Sr, 83, of Houston will be Friday, Mar. 13, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Cullman County with military honors.
Mr. Shelton died Thursday, Mar. 10, 2009, at his residence. He was born September 29, 1925, in Green County to Steve I. Shelton and Mary Altha Yarbrough Shelton. He was a maintenance worker for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a Hospice of the Valley volunteer and a member of Friendship Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Shelton, and a son, John Steve Shelton Jr.
He is survived by a daughter, Melinda Sue Bailey of Houston,; three stepsons, James Sanders of Tennessee, Paul Sanders of North Carolina and Cliff Sanders of Ohio; two stepdaughters, Nanette Bonniville of Cullman and Mary Jones of Vinemont; six brothers, Paul Shelton, Louie Shelton, Tommy Shelton and Floyd Shelton, all of Eva, Huey Shelton of Falkville and Asa Shelton of Harvest; a sister, Mary Adams of Vinemont; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and 13 stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric Summerford, Tom Summerford, Hank Summerford, Paul Sanders, James Sanders and Mike Corley.
