Help pick one of the seven wonders of Hartselle

The great pyramid at Giza. The hanging gardens of Babylon. A towering statue of Zeus at Olympia and another of Colossus in Rhodes. A temple in Ephesus, a mausoleum in Halicarnassus and a lighthouse in Alexandria. And Willie Burgers?
OK, so Willie Burgers may not qualify as one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World but it could end up on another type of wonders list if it receives enough nominations. Hartselle Junior High School students are presently compiling a list of the “Seven Wonders of Hartselle.” To compile the list, the students are looking for your help.
Students are looking for anything someone might consider “a wonder” of Hartselle. Suggestions include a place, a view, a building, an object or anything unique about the city. The students will be submitting their own list as well.
Roden and fellow teacher Deborah Norman, both seventh-grade English instructors, are coordinating the project.
Once all entries as submitted, the students vote on the seven wonders of Hartselle. A nomination page is available at www.hartselle.hcm.schoolinsites.com. Nominations are due by March 31. All nominations should include the writer’s name and phone number.
The search for the seven wonders of Hartselle was inspired by the book, “The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs,” by Betty G. Birney. Birney’s book deals with a young boy’s discovery of wonders in his hometown, a place he sees as having little to offer. He soon discovers a wealth of interesting things in his own town, including a haunted table, flying outhouse and an evil ship in a bottle.
The book is part of cross-curriculum study at HJHS with elements being discussed in every class.
