A Hartselle resident was among those sentenced last week in connection with a series of indictments related to a long-term drug investigation.
Thirty-three individuals were sentenced last week as a result of the indictments, including Martha Rose Sanchez, 33, of Hartselle. Sanchez was sentenced to 80 months, along with probation once released. The investigation stretched from Morgan and Madison counties and other areas in the Northern District of Alabama to Texas, California, and Mexico. Prosecutors allege those involved used the trucking industry to smuggle more than 600 kilograms of cocaine and thousands of pounds of marijuana from Mexico to Northern Alabama, and to smuggle millions of dollars in bulk currency back to Mexico.
