Mayer pitches Devils to win

FALKVILLE - Trevor Mayer allowed just one hit over six innings to lead Falkville to an 8-2 victory Friday over Brewer in the final game of the Falkville Spring Break Tournament
Brewer scored just one run off Mayer.
Travis Davis worked the seventh inning for the Blue Devils, giving up one run on one hit.
Falkville broke the game open early with four runs in the bottom of the first inning with the help of four walks.
Mayer and Chad Kirkpatrick walked with the bases loaded to score runs in the inning. Kirkpatrick later scored on a passed ball.
Justin Cobb had an RBI in the inning with a groundout to third.
Corey Holliday singled in a run in the bottom of the second to extend Falkville’s advantage to 5-0.
Mayer stole home in the third inning after the Blue Devils had loaded the bases.
Joseph Lacey added a run in the fourth when he scored on a passed ball to make it 7-0.
Brewer’s first run of the game came in the fifth inning when Nick Burgess scored on a passed ball.
Holliday trimmed the lead to 7-2 when he drove in a run with a groundout to short.
Falkville tacked on one final run in the seventh inning when Matthew Bazzel had an RBI single to score Holliday.
West Morgan 13, Brewer 2
Brewer used four pitchers in the 13-2 loss to West Morgan.
Nick Burgess got the loss. Also throwing for the Patriots was Spencer Region, John Lampi and Chris Ratliff.
Brewer scored its first run in the fifth inning when Region was walked and pinch runner Kevin Smith scored on a single by Zach Fowler.
The Patriots picked up another run in the seventh inning when Lampi reached on an error and scored following a wild pitch and a West Morgan error.
Cordova 5, Falkville 4
Joseph Lacy went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs in Falkville’s loss to Cordova.
Seth Wiley and Justin Cobb both had hits for the Blue Devils in the loss.
Falkville 7, West Morgan 1
Cody Kelsoe scattered three hits over seven innings as Falkville picked up a 7-1 victory over West Morgan.
Kelsoe allowed one run in the win.
Joseph Lacy had a single and a double for the Blue Devils, while Corey Holliday and Justin Cobb had two singles each.
Chad Kilpatrick had a double and a run, while Trevor Mayer, Aaron Lee and Seth Wiley all added one hit each.
Brye Hill scored one run for Falkville.
Danville 14, Cordova 3
Hunter Stover doubled and tripled as Danville beat Cordova 14-3.
Cole Veazey earned the win after allowing just two hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.
Jacob Fields had a double for Danville, while Corey Gillies, Veazey, Evan Cleghorn and Matthew Vest each had a single in the win.
Danville 12, Falkville 0
Parker Hogan shut down Falkville in a 12-0 victory.
The Hawks had doubles from Hogan, Matthew Vest and Thomas Russell..
Also picking up hits for Danville were Jacob Fields, Jesse Posey, Zach Ward and Jacob Young.
Danville 2, West Morgan 0
Jacob Young struck out six as Danville shut out West Morgan 2-0.
Cole Veazey finished up in relief to earn the save for the Hawks.
Jacob Fields and Matthew Vest drove in the two Danville runs.
The Hawks also got hits from Schuyler Forman and Thomas Russell.
