Falkville rallies in 8th for win

FALKVILLE - Katie Annerton scored from first on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday to send Falkville to a 4-3 victory over Cold Springs.
The Lady Blue Devils improved to 7-4 overall with the win.
Annerton earned the win after scattering seven hits over eight innings. She struck out four.
Paige Mayer, Katelynn Smith and Jessie Thompson all doubled for Falkville. Sarah Goodman added a single and scored a run.
Falkville tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jessie Thompson doubled and scored on Samantha Davis’ two-out single.
Annerton scored the game’s winning run after the Cold Springs catcher fielded Mallorie Minor’s sacrifice bunt and threw the ball past the first baseman.
FHS, DHS split
Danville beat Falkville 12-6 in the first game of a doubleheader last week to earn a split with the Lady Blue Devils.
Falkville won the second game 5-4.
In the opener, Sarah Goodman and Jessie Thompson had two singles each. Goodman also had an RBI in the loss.
Katie Annerton was the losing pitcher.
Falkville had seven hits in the second game. Thompson doubled and drove in two runs, while Goodman had a pair of singles and scored a run for the Lady Blue Devils.
Paige Mayer, Katie Annerton and Megan Hill added a single each.
Baseball
Priceville 10, Douglas 5
Jeremy Hale’s grand slam helped lead Priceville to a 10-5 victory over Douglas.
The Bulldogs’ Stephen Starkey added three hits and drove in two runs in the win.
Clay Chandler finished with five strikeouts to get credit for the win.
Falkville sweeps Eagles
Falkville scored 18 runs to sweep a doubleheader from Cold Springs in an area game.
Joseph Lacy had three hits as Falkville won the opener 12-3.
Trevor Mayer struck out 10 for the Blue Devils. He added a single in the win.
Lacy finished with 11 strikeouts to lead Falkville in the 6-0 win in the nightcap.
Lacy added three hits in the second game, finishing with six hits in the doubleheader.
The Blue Devils improved to 4-0 in area play with the wins over Cold Springs.
