Outstanding marketing has bagged a national award for a local grocer.
Hometown Grocery won the Excellence in Merchandising Award for having the most outstanding grocery department among the more than 1,800 supermarkets serviced by Associated Wholesale Grocers.
The award for “Excellence in Grocery Merchandising” is presented to only one supermarket each year.
The store’s displays and marketing set it apart from other entries, judges said.
Judges also noted Hometown’s planned schedule for rotating end-aisle displays, keeping them new and exciting. Because of these efforts, the store has enjoyed a sales increase over the previous year.
The award was presented to Jay Holloway, owner of Hometown Grocery in Hartselle, at the Associated Wholesale Grocers annual Shareholder’s Meeting in Kansas City on March 21.
