The poems of 28 Priceville Junior High School students are included in the 2009 edition of “Acelebration of Poetry” as a result of their participation in a Creative Communications Poetry Contest last fall.
Two of the students, Rayna Cahill and Chris McNutt, both eighth graders, received additional recognition in the competition.
Rayna’s poem titled “School” and Chris’s poem entitled “Land of Frozen Dreams” were judged among the top ten poems submitted and each one’s poems received full-page display in the front of the book. Each also received a $50 U.S. Savings Bond and a complimentary copy of the publication.
The contest was open to seventh through ninth grade students from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Priceville’s eighth grade students have participated in the essay contest since 1997.
