A group of Morgan County church leaders have pooled their resources to make a difference in the lives of troubled teenagers.
Teens and their parents are invited to attend “A Night of Hope” rally at the Priceville High School football stadium May 8. The stadium parking lot will be opened at 4 p.m. and the gates will open at 6 p.m. A program of inspirational Christian speakers and musical entertainment will follow.
Headlining the program will be “To Write Love on Her Arms” from Cocoa, Fla. The mission of this youth organization is to fight teen depression, substance abuse and suicide with a message of hope and love. Its founder, Jamie Twarkoski, will be the featured speaker. Entertainment will be provided by “Remedy Drive,” a Christian rock band from Tennessee, and “Group 1 Crew,” a Christian hip-hop band from Florida.
Planning for the rally began three months ago after Morgan County experienced its third teen suicide in a year.
Christian radio station WAY-FM in Huntsville is a co-sponsor and at least 16 churches in Morgan County are actively promoting the event.
Walters said a stage will be set up on the football field for speakers and entertainers and seating will be provided on the field for students Parents are welcome to bring blankets and sit on the field, or use bleacher seating.
In the event of rain, the rally will be conducted at the Calhoun Community College Gymnasium.
