Funeral for William Roy ‘Bill’ Thrasher, 54, of Decatur was Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Rideouts-Brown with Gary Patton officiating.
Burial was at Forrest Chapel Cemetery near Hartselle.
Mr. Thrasher died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his residence. He was born May 12, 1954, in Hartselle, the youngest of four sons born to Newton Columbus and Betty Inez Collier Thrasher. He resided in Hartselle until high school then moved to Decatur where he graduated from Austin High School. He enjoyed all sports but was an avid Alabama football and Braves baseball fan. He enjoyed his collection of action figures which numbered in the hundreds. He attended Somerville Road Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He is survived by three brothers, Thomas N. Thrasher and wife Jerretta, Daniel L. Thrasher and wife Pam, all of Decatur and David L. Thrasher and wife Theresa of Hartselle; eight nieces and nephews, Thomas N. Thrasher Jr. and wife Quinta, Daniel Thrasher and wife Christina, Benjamin Thrasher, Leah Collier and husband Nick, Christopher D. Thrasher and wife Barbara, Jonathan K. Thrasher, Anna E. Thrasher and Sarah C. Thrasher; and six grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews, Tommy Thrasher of Madison, Daniel Thrasher and Ben Thrasher, both of Decatur, Jon Thrasher of Huntsville, Chris Thrasher of Nashville and grand-nephew Andrew Thrasher of Madison.
