Lester A. Prater

Funeral for Lester A. Prater, 79, of Hartselle was Thursday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Prater died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at his residence. He was born February 3, 1930, in Limestone County to Jewel Avant Prater and Annie Belle Miller Prater. He was a member and deacon at New Center Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army Engineering Division during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Francis Prater of Hartselle; a son, Phillip A. Prater and wife Sara N. of Hartselle; a daughter, Kathy J. Kent and husband Kenneth of Hartselle; a brother, Morris Prater of Huntsville; two sisters, Ruby Kennemer and Annie Kennemer, both of Athens; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were deacons of New Center Baptist Church.
