Calhoun shortens work week
By Staff
Calhoun Community College will go to a four-day (Monday-Thursday) summer work/class schedule beginning June 1 in an effort to conserve energy and college resources.
During the weeks of June 1, 8, 15 and 22, and July 6, Calhoun will be open on Mondays – Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. The week of June 29 will be a regular work week since July 3 is a holiday in celebration of July 4.
The college has several previously scheduled summer camps that will take place during this time period. Arrangements have been made to keep selected facilities open on the impacted Fridays to accommodate these camps and their participants.
The state Board of Education voted earlier this year to allow Alabama’s community colleges to pursue alternatives to the standard five-day work week.
