Childers, Dyess to wed
Steve and Charlotte Childers of Eva announce the engagement of their daughter, Whittney Lauren Childers of Mobile and formerly of Eva, to Matthew C. Dyess of Semmes, son of Carl and Dani Dyess of Semmes.
The future bride is the granddaughter of G.C. Childers and the late Mildred Childers of Eva and the late Liland and Inez McKee of Eva.
A graduate of A.P. Brewer High School, she is a 2004 graduate of the University of South Alabama with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
She is employed as a registered nurse at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile.
The groom is the grandson of Mary Dyess and the late F.G. Dyess of Semmes, the late Les and Betty Roberson of Mobile and J.G. and Mary Cowart of Greenville.
A graduate of Faith Academy, he is a 2004 graduate of the University of South Alabama with degree in business marketing.
He is employed with The SSI Group in Mobile.
The wedding is planned for July 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Eva.
Spears, Gilbert to wed
Jerry and Iris Spears of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Sherry Nichole Spears, to Joshua Frank Gilbert, son of Earl and Angie Gilbert of Decatur.
The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Calvin and Grace Spears and the late Ira and Bessie Compton, all of Decatur.
A 2002 graduate of Hartselle High School, she attended Wallace State Community College. She works for Dr. M. Shane Stevenson as a dental assistant.
The future groom is the grandson of Grace Gilbert of Decatur and the late Earl Gilbert of Decatur and the late O’Neal and Jewel Springer of Decatur.
A 1999 graduate of West Morgan High School, he attended J.F. Drake Technical College. He is employed in Huntsville.
The wedding is planned for July 11, 2009, at Flint Church of Christ.
