Funeral for Jewell Loverne Rooks Monk, 78, of Decatur was Saturday, June 6, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brad Campbell officiating.
Burial was in Falkville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Monk died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Cullman Healthcare &Rehab in Cullman. She was born March 31, 1931, in Lawrence County to William Arthur Rooks and Zillar Ann Rooks. She was a homemaker and the widow of Max E. Monk. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elva Herchenhahn; and two brothers, Hoyt Rooks and Elbert Rooks.
She is survived by two sons, Greg Monk and David Monk and wife Zina, both of Decatur; a daughter, Cynthia Sparkman and husband Fred of Guntersville; four sisters, Delpha Hayes of Arley, Maxine Fuller of Hartselle, Shelby Green of Decatur and Nelda Karr of Danville; and two grandchildren, Sarah Monk and Deborah Monk.
Nephews were pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
